Shoe Taste Thursday

Well folks, it’s that time of the week again, when Thursday rolls around and I get to so joyfully feature another great pair of shoes (because I mean, who doesn’t love shoes). There is nothing I love more than suede and glitter so in preparation for the holidays this weeks, shall I say the “shoe award” goes to Cubana, a Portugal based brand for creating the Ciara Glitter Bootie.

This beautifully made suede and metallic combination will add style and pizazz to any outfit, guaranteed! You can find this shoe at your local Anthropologie with a pretty hefty markdown from its original price tag.

You can find the direct Quickshop link below if this shoe tickles your fancy!

Small Biz Sunday

“Small Biz Sunday” will be a continued weekly posting simply dedicated to recognizing small businesses in Toronto and California. I’m not going to lie to you, I used to be one of those people that would ONLY shop at the big-chain retailers without giving local, unique businesses a chance.

All that has changed, and I’m so glad that it has. Over the past 8 months (thanks to my internship with Love by Lynzie) I have been introduced to a handful of local businesses and entrepreneurs whether it be working, sourcing or partnering that really opened my eyes to the benefits of small businesses.

Small businesses are a big deal and if you don’t support it yet you should definitely get on board. These businesses, whether it be your local coffee shop, craft store, Etsy artist or florist are fueled by passionate individuals that essentially serve as the “backbone” to your community. These businesses return more to your community by creating and providing more job opportunities than big chain retailers do, not to mention they thrive on building relationships with their customers with a personable and passionate approach.

Support the community you live in and celebrate small businesses. Shop locally and give back, it just makes sense!

The feature small business of this week is Marley & Alfie, a handcrafted style and accessories line based out of California by Cindy Tung. What started out as a strict jewelry line passion quickly catapulted into full-time career and business in May of 2014. Her line ranges anywhere from lush texturized “lucky” horseshoes to vibrant and bright pompom necklaces. I discovered her line while here in California and quickly fell in love. You can find her line in various local mercantile shops around California or her very popular Etsy page. Every piece is handcrafted with love, care and attention to detail with a very reasonable price tag. Access to her social media accounts are listed below as well as a direct link to her Etsy page.

Pantone’s 2017 Colour of the YEAR //

Well folks, the colour gods have spoken, this week Pantone released their colour of the year for 2017 and what a rejuvenating and refreshing colour it is! Pantone has named the 2017 colour of the year “Greenery”. This bright and zesty pop of green mixes shades of yellow and green to evoke the beginning of springs season when nature’s greens come alive. According to Pantone this new colour is “Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.”

Looking back on Pantone’s 2016 colour(s) of the year; Rose Quartz (a soft pink) and Serenity (a muted periwinkle blue), Greenery is definitely a huge leap from the two pastel colours we saw in charge and in my eyes I think this leap is a great way to kick off the new year.

We’ve already seen pops of Pantone’s 2017 colour of the year in the Spring 2017 runway shows but how will it work its way into the 2017 wedding industry? It is no secret that greens are a staple colour that many couples and planners incorporate into their wedding palette but I do believe we will be seeing more of this fresh, bright green whether it be incorporated into the florals, tabletop accents (goblets, dinnerware) or into the stationary aspect such as the save-the-date or invitation suite. This colour is sure to be a hit come the Spring 2017 wedding season and I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Shoe Taste Thursday //

Starting today I am going to be doing a weekly posting every Thursday called “Shoe Taste Thursday”. For anyone who knows me knows that I have a slightly minor (ok, maybe major) shoe addiction. To me, shoes are what will always pull your outfit together so over the years I have developed a pretty rad shoe collection that ranges from your everyday sandal to your night out designer bootie. Shoe Taste Thursday’s are my way of expressing and showcasing a weekly shoe that I think needs to be in the lime light.

This week, the feature Shoe Taste Thursday goes to Kristin Cavallari and her line Chinese Laundry, more specifically her Santorini Bootie. This bootie is a 10/10 for me, I have both her old season and new season design. This bootie combines an intriguing textural mix of two-toned suede and glazed snake-embossed leather to create this sophisticated, stylish and comfortable shoe.

Unfortunately, last seasons style that came in Emerald/Navy + Beige/Black is no longer on the market anymore but her latest season style is just as fun with many new colour combinations. She offers three colour combinations this season, two of which follow a very neutral palette while the third is for the brave style setter who loves colour and creativity.

Here is a link to purchase the shoe if you feel like this bootie suits your style and personality!
